Our Mission

Grace Christian School, working together with the home and church, provides a Christ-centered spiritual, academic, and physical foundation in a nurturing environment to produce citizens who will be a transforming influence in their world.

Elementary School

  • Grades kindergarten-sixth
  • Enrollment of 320 students

Program

  • Self-contained classrooms
  • Multi-sensory approach to learning
  • State-of-the-art computer lab
  • Phonetic reading program-integrated language program

Secondary School

  • Junior high-grades 7-8, 130 students
  • High school-grades 9-12, 240 students
  • 1 full-time instructional support staff
  • 1 full-time guidance counselor
  • 21 full-time faculty
  • 8 part-time faculty

Grace Christian School's secondary program equips students with the knowledge, skills and motivation to prepare them for further education and successful employment. High school students exceed the Alaska state requirements for graduation. Upper division science, mathematics, social studies, and language courses prepare students for college entrance requirements. Advanced Placement courses in calculus, chemistry, biology, English, music theory, and Spanish are available for qualifying students. A guidance counselor works to establish a course of study suited to each student's educational goals and to aid students in college/university selection and financial aid.

Secondary extracurricular
An elected student council gives students opportunities for leadership and interaction with peers, faculty, and the administration. Students are involved in athletics, choral groups, speech, chapel presentations, ministry outreach, academic competitions, drama, individual class offices and the yearbook. Students compete in cross-country running, basketball, volleyball (girls), track and field, wrestling (boys), cross-country skiing, soccer and cheerleading.

The School

Founded in 1980 by Anchorage Grace Church, Grace Christian School serves nearly 700 students in its K-12th grade college preparatory program. Located on a 7.7-acre campus in south Anchorage, its facility includes 33 classrooms, computer labs, library, science labs, gym and music rooms.

Grace is governed by a ten member self-perpetuating school board.

Accreditation & Membership

Grace is accredited through the Association of Christian Schools International and the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools. The school is a member of the Alaska Schools Activities Association, and competes statewide in athletics, music and academics. Student excellence is recognized through a chapter of the National Honor Society.

Computer Technology

All students have access to computer
instruction, either in their individual
classrooms or in a lab featuring PC's in a Windows 2000 environment. Secondary students receive instruction in Microsoft Office Suite, network configurations, and programming.

Fine Arts

All students are encouraged to develop appreciation and experience in aesthetic expression through involvement in instrumental and choral music, art, and drama. Opportunity is provided for both performance and artistic display.

Experiencing God's creativity by discovering, strengthening, expressing, and revealing the creative gifts and talents of His people is the aim of Fine Arts at Grace.
