Grace Christian School

Earthquake/Emergency Packet

Please send to school with your student, one gallon sized zip-lock bag containing the following:

1.     Non-perishable individually wrapped nutri-grain type food bars, small packages of dried fruits, trail mixes, or small cans of fruit with a spoon.

2.     Small box or can of juice or juice drink, or non-perishable milk.

3.     “Comfort” letter to your child, stating that you are going to be here ASAP and that even though he/she may be frightened, you’re thinking of him/her.  Use your child’s name repeatedly throughout the letter and thank the child for following all directions so that the emergency plans can be used to keep them as safe as possible.

4.     One 3” X 5” card with a small photo (school photo or similar) of your child securely attached to it, clearly labeled with your child’s name and the parent’s name(s) to ensure security and accounting for each child.

Should a serious earthquake occur, we ask that you do not call the school unless absolutely necessary, but rather come immediately to pick up your child.  Phone lines need to be kept clear for emergencies.  Please talk to your child ahead of time to let him/her know that in the event of a serious earthquake you will come immediately to get them.  We realize that there may be delays in getting here to pick up your child.  The emergency packet will be used for comfort and aid should you be delayed.

Grace Christian School prepares its staff and students for earthquakes and emergencies on a continuing basis through lectures, films, practice, and review of safety procedures.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact the school nurse or administration at 345-4814.
