Grace Christian School is a ministry of Anchorage Grace Church and educates students in the context of Christian values, so that they would live godly lives in service to others. Grace was founded in Anchorage, Alaska in 1980 and has a strong tradition over-preparing students in grades K–12 in a rigorous Christian college prep environment.
Grace holds dual accreditation through the Association of Christian Schools International and the Northwest Accreditation Commission. The school is a member of the Alaska Schools Activities Association, and competes statewide in athletics, music, and academics. Student excellence is recognized through a chapter of the National Honor Society founded in 1993.
“Educating leaders with a passion for Jesus Christ through the integration of faith and learning.”
Because we believe that in Jesus Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge (Col. 2:3), we actively integrate biblical faith into every educational experience whether in the classroom or out.
“Grace Christian School, working together with the home and church, provides a Christ-centered spiritual, academic, and physical foundation in a nurturing environment to produce citizens who will be a transforming influence in their world.”
At every opportunity, we encourage students in their relationship with Jesus and their rigorous pursuit of excellence. We endeavor to train young people to become Christian leaders in their homes, churches, and communities.
As a staff, we take great delight in partnering with more than 300 Christian homes and 75 churches in providing students with this Christ-centered educational foundation that will equip them for transforming their world.
Renewing minds to renew their world!
What is Christian Education? Christian education is a response to the knowledge that God, through Christ, is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe – the source of all wisdom and knowledge. By His Word, God creates and maintains the world moment by moment, leaving His trademark on all visible and invisible creation. Thus, all creation is imbued with meaning, revealing God to humanity and providing us with the means for communion, friendship, and service to our Creator. All of creation, thus all the knowledge derived from it, does not exist independent of God, rather, it exists only by the Word of God. An education rooted in this knowledge equips students with a foundation of meaning and wisdom, on which to build lives of gratitude and service. The Word of God as revealed in Scripture, in Christ, and in creation provides the framework for interpreting all of life.
The goal of Grace Christian School is to approach the learning endeavor in such a way that the truth of God is revealed and that students are redeemed and are equipped for lives of service and communion with their Creator. Grace’s mission is to partner with the home and church to provide a Christ-centered spiritual, academic, and physical foundation in a nurturing environment to produce citizens who will be a transforming influence in their world.
God’s Word places the task of educating children with the parents. Parents are responsible to oversee each facet of training, with the goal of nurturing righteousness and faith from one generation to the next (see Genesis 18:19, Deuteronomy 6:4-9, Proverbs 22:6).
The New Testament teaches that the responsibility of the church includes edification (teaching), discipleship, evangelism, and fellowship (see Matthew 18:19-20, Acts 2:42, II Timothy 2:2). Scripture refers to the church as a body, a metaphor that implies the presence of life, growth, and a maturation process, thus echoing the teaching-learning process. An active church life provides spiritual resources and avenues for service. The Christian school does not replace the spiritual training of the church; rather it seeks to encourage that training, which in turn strengthens the home, the church and the world.
Our Statement of Faith:
Grace Christian School is a ministry of Anchorage Grace Church, serving the Christian community. The school is an extension of the educational function of both the home and the church, and exists to assist parents in their parenting role. Grace desires to enroll students from Christian families who desire to partner with the school in the education of their children. Grace Christian School holds to and teaches the following core biblical doctrines:
- We believe the Bible to be the only inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God.
- We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three Persons – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
- We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His Virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
- We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful man, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
- We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
- We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; that they are saved into the resurrection of life, and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
- We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
