Chuck was an outstanding athlete while a student at Cook Inlet Academy (CIA). In 1981-1982 and 1982-1983 he was named to the Region II Basketball All Tournament Team. He was the Region II Wrestling Champion @ 145 and 155 lbs. respectively. He was also selected as the Region’s ‘Most Valuable Wrestler’ in both of those years. In 2006 he was inducted into the Alaska High School Hall of Fame.
After high school, Chuck attended UAA and graduated in 1987 with a Bachelor of Arts in Justice. His chosen career was law enforcement. Chuck attended and graduated from the FBI National Academy of Law Enforcement Administrators. He served as a police officer for 23 years, 7 years as the Chief of Police for the City of Kenai. Chuck also served as Acting City Manager for the City of Kenai from 2005 – 2006. Alaska Governors Murkowski and Palin gave him an oversight role on their Administration transition teams with respect to the Department of Public Safety. Chuck has served the State of Alaska as a Governor appointee to both the Alaska Judicial Council and Alaska Police Standards Council. He currently serves as Chief of Staff to Senator Fred Dyson.
While living on the Kenai Peninsula, Chuck set an exemplary example for his community and young people, serving on the school board of the Cook Inlet Academy, the Lee Shore Women’s Resource and Crisis Center Board, the Kenai Peninsula Community Care Center, the 2006 Arctic Winter Games committee, and coaching wrestling at Region II schools. In 2004 the Anchorage Journal of Commerce recognized his outstanding community service by naming Chuck one of Alaska’s “Top 40 under 40.″
He and his wife Trish have three children: Chuck, Holly and Paul. Chuck graduated from Cook Inlet Academy in 2007, and LeTourneau University in 2011. Holly graduated from Grace Christian School in 2009, leading the girls CC running team to a state championship. In 2011 Holly earned All-American honors as a Cross Country runner at the Masters College in California. Little brother Paul is just beginning 7th grade here at GCS
