Greetings Grace Families,
I hope this finds you “hunkering” well?! As we heard Governor Dunleavy has closed public and private schools until May 1st. I am glad our governing bodies have made difficult decisions early allowing us to get plans in place. We are in this adventure together and I know that we will learn lessons we never dreamed of.
I realize you are getting inundated with emails from just about everyone. For the time being I will keep my emails brief and daily at noon, but I do not want to under communicate. Your communication with teachers now is the most important.
Today is the launch of our online Instructional Program. You will most likely get a good volume of emails today from teachers. This should diminish as the program rolls out. If you do have trouble or a question, please contact your teacher directly. You will hear from Mr. Gionet later this week as we assess the program’s launch.
There are two items of which I want to keep you informed. First, we have not made any final decisions on events scheduled in May. The Administration and School Board will be considering each of these as we get closer to them and as the feasibility picture becomes more clear. Second, we have not heard a final word from Alaska Schools Activities Association regarding the cancelling of spring athletics and competitions, however, it looks unlikely that we will be able to have those spring activities.
I am praying that this new educational endeavor goes well, and we are able to have students learn in the best possible method available to us.
