The meeting opened with prayer and a devotion by board member John Ferguson.
Guidance counselor Janet Pargeter updated the Board on standardized testing options, including the newly available Classical Learning Test. She presented a summary of standardized testing results for Grace as compared to all of Alaska. She raised concerns relative to the school’s technology which were discussed. The technology committee will make progress in regard to the issues raised and report back. She also expressed her desire that the school do more in Instructional Support for kids who have unique needs, either gifted or struggling.
The elder board members gave a report on developments at the church. The elders have been discussing strategic planning and are pursuing various options to retain the Kissinger property across the street. Facilities needs will include a new septic system this summer. The church will have a fundraiser on April 6 which will feature a live feed from John MacArthur, and a Creation Seminar that same weekend. The church is actively advancing the school at services and on the radio.
The board discussed new members to fill open seats (currently four) and also made new committee assignments.
Steve Magsetro gave an Advancement report, and updated on preparations for the Guardians breakfast.
