Among the many factors parents consider in choosing a school, an excellent education and safe environment are usually at the top of the list. Parents who are considering a private, Christian school also understandably weigh cost as a factor. For many of them, the question comes down to this: is a Christian education really worth the investment?
At Grace, we believe the answer is clear. Our school’s culture and values are strong. We integrate the Christian faith into all aspects of the education process from kindergarten to 12th grade and, as a result, students are constantly inspired to understand and grow in their faith. A Cardus study found that graduates from Christian high schools were significantly better prepared to defend their faith than their public school counterparts. Children spend their crucial, formative years being influenced by Christian teachers who care about them, share a common faith, and help guide them on their personal faith journey. The Cardus study indicates that students are influenced by who teachers are, more than by how they teach. The inspiring relationships with key teachers are one of the most often-cited benefits of attending GCS.
Lynnette Walker, who with her husband Jeff have a Grace graduate and a current student, remembers how they wrestled to choose the right kindergarten for their son. “I kept thinking: these people will be spending seven hours every day with my children,” she said. “I wanted role models who would inspire them in their faith.” Grace prepared her son well for college, and now he and his new wife have joined a missionary organization and teach in a Christian school overseas. “You simply cannot place a value on what Christian education has done for our family. In the early years especially it was sometimes a struggle to put aside the funds for tuition, but we always knew it would be
worth it.”
Former Grace parent Steve Machida, the father of two graduates, echoed similar thoughts. “Years down the road when your children are grown, you will not think about their grades, their awards, or the money that you spent on tuition,” he said. “You will think about how well you did passing the baton of faith in Christ to them. An education which supports that faith is a key element in the process.”
Grace Christian School offers not only the excellent education and positive environment that parents seek, but also a deep commitment to helping our students understand and live their faith, so they become life-long disciples of Christ. We invite you to discover what so many parents have found: a Christian education is one of the most worthwhile investments you can make.
