Bio:
Tucked away in a keepsake box, I have a tidy hand-written assignment from my second grade teacher, Mrs. Endersby. Occasionally, I will come across this piece of yellowed paper and read the statement I made as a seven-year old, “I want to be a teacher when I grow up.” Since that declaration in 1966, I had always set my eyes on education for a profession, having unwavering confidence in my calling. To me, life would be unfulfilling, lifeless, and mundane without the presence of kids in my life. After raising three children, who have all graduated from Grace Christian, my husband (since 1982) and I are now enjoying grandchildren. Children are full of life, humor, and creativity; yet are vastly different, with precious gifts to be discovered and shared with others. How rewarding it is to watch this discovery, much like watching your own children perform or compete, or excel in academics. The overwhelming sense of pride brings warmth to the heart. On days that I might get discouraged I reflect on all the lives I have been blessed to be a part of- God’s workmanship and creation, His family. Nothing is more precious, nor a career as rewarding as teaching. Praise God for His calling in my life.
When I am not teaching at school, I am teaching Sunday school, having my family over for meals, having overnighters with our grandchildren, camping, hiking, or working in my yard. God is Good !
